Prison Legacy Foundation is a nonprofit, Christian based prison ministry, founded by Nicole Murdaugh. Prison Legacy Foundation is a year-long program with a group of 45 incarcerated men at Howard McLeod Correctional Facility located right here in Atoka County. The program is focused on building a firm foundation with Jesus Christ and continuing their spiritual growth first and foremost. Then within the program the men will move on to the self discovery phase where they are able to find out who they truly are and be on the path to being the men God destined them to truly be and discovering their purpose. Some of things that will be covered within the course is financial help along with helping with resumes and even doing a mock interviewing process. All of the things that are focused on within this course is to help provide positive resources, support and guidance to help these men transform their lives and allow them to create a lasting legacy even while being incarcerated.
With the approval of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, Prison Legacy Foundation also has a women’s group, Women Of Legacy. Women Of Legacy is an online group of female family members of the 45 incarcerated men within the program. The women do the same type of curriculum as the men which include daily check-ins, weekly assignments, daily SOAPs (Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer) and so much more. By having these positive resources it has helped bridge the gap between families and even help reconcile relationships while each side is growing within their faith together.
Once the men complete the program with the requirements, they are able to have a graduation (with cap and gown plus a diploma).
